Echo Chamber Ensemble played their debut concert in 2012 at Glasgow University, playing the premier of Martin Suckling’s Tenebrae, which was that year’s McEwen Commission, written especially for the ensemble. Since then they have performed to enthusiastic audiences at the Sound Festival, The Maltings, Aberdeen University Chamber Series and at music clubs all over Scotland. In 2019 the line up has now changed due to the original Violist, Hannah Craib's relocation to live in Germany, Ruth and Sharron are excited to now be joined by the renowned Violist, Scott Dickinson.
This combination of instruments has some of the most enchanting repertoire from the early twentieth century, with the Debussy Sonata being one of the jewels in the crown. The trio also lends itself beautifully to arrangements of earlier work. The range of sounds and colours that can be created from this combination of instruments are remarkable, and this ensemble brings together some of Scotland’s most experienced chamber musicians.
